The Signatec Auxiliary Bus (SAB) makes it possible to construct high performance instrumentation systems using cost effective PC platforms.  The SAB consists of a 64-bit data bus mechanized via two 100 conductor ribbon cables running across the top edge of standard PCI boards.  SAB enabled boards act as modular building blocks for constructing high performance systems that mechanize a wide variety of applications.  Devices connected to the SAB may communicate via SAB interrupt and control lines.  This allows the boards to accomplish multiple acquisition, transfer, and processing cycles under control of the signal processor device without PC intervention; effectively bypassing the PC host bus and PC operating system and therefore significantly improving system performance.

The SAB does not replace the PC host bus but augments it.  An optimized application uses the SAB for time critical data movements and the PC host bus for less critical operations.  Since both buses are in simultaneous operation, system throughput is maximized.  The SAB eliminates all bottlenecks in the movement of data between data acquisition signal waveform digitizer boards, digital signal processing boards, signal waveform generation and playback boards, and large memory storage boards.  Additionally, multiple SABs can be implemented in a single computer to further increase the available system data bandwidth.

Use our powerful Maestro System Software for manipulating Signatec products at the board or at the system level.  Maestro can be used to setup all hardware settings, record data from arbitrary data acquisition boards, recreate analog signals, view large amounts of signal data, run DSP applications, and much more.  In addition each Signatec product comes with the following software at no charge:
